CAF unveils new CHAN trophy ahead of PAMOJA 2024 tournament
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a new trophy for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), to be held across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from August 2 to 30, 2025.The sleek silver-and-gold design was revealed in a special video featuring African football legends Victor Wanyama (Kenya), Denis Onyango (Uganda), and Mrisho Ngasa (Tanzania). The trio’s presence underscored the symbolic significance of the new trophy and its reflection of the tournament’s growing stature.A standout feature of the trophy is its 54 encircling lines—each representing a CAF member association—with a map of Africa placed at the centre. The design embodies unity, diversity, and progress, which remain core values of CHAN.The trophy launch forms part of a broader rebrand of the CHAN competition, now dubbed "PAMOJA 2024." The new identity aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and footballing excellence of Africa, while reinforcing the tournament's role in developing home-based talents across the continent.CAF says the updated trophy is a symbol of the championship’s evolution and its vital place in African football.
