Ghana's Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has announced the government's ambitious plan to construct modern, internationally accepted stadiums in every region of the country.The minister made this revelation during his appearance before the Public Accounts Committee earlier this week, where he provided updates on developments within his sector.Currently, only the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and the Accra Sports Stadium can host international matches. However, even these venues have limitations that prevent them from hosting certain categories of games."The government policy is to ensure that every region in Ghana has a modern, internationally accepted stadium. We are ensuring we are working on the regions that do not have those facilities," Ussif stated. "As and when we get funds and funding arrangements are put in place, you will see us in those regions to make sure that they are completed."Since assuming office, the NPP government has built approximately 150 AstroTurfs across the country, although most of these facilities are not suitable for hosting Ghana Premier League matches.
