It's time to groom local players for Black Stars - Dr Nyaho Tamakloe

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Chairman, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has advocated for a greater emphasis on developing local players for the Black Stars.His remarks follow the senior national team's disappointing start to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.Ghana, whose last AFCON trophy came in 1982, began their campaign with a 1-0 loss to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium.They then played to a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane, leaving the Black Stars in third place in Group F with just one point.In response to these results, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe urged a shift in strategy, highlighting Niger’s squad, which includes many home-based players, as a model for success.He emphasized the need for coaches to focus on nurturing local talent, saying this approach could help strengthen the team."What they need is to look inward now.
