AFCON 2025 qualification was difficult- Sudan coach Kwasi Appiah

Sudan coach James Kwesi Appiah says qualification to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations was difficult. The former Black Stars tactician successfully led Sudan to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament to be staged in Morocco.Appiah, who took charge of the Sudan national team in September 2023 worked tirelessly with his coaching staff to book a spot at the expense of native country, Ghana.Sudan finished second in Group F with 8 points, one point ahead of Niger, who placed third. Ghana, in contrast, finished at the bottom of the table with just 3 points, missing out on qualification.“We were pitted in a tough group in the AFCON qualifications. Football has evolved so you cannot underrate any team. All games were difficult but we were able to sail through. In a null shell, the qualifiers was difficult” he said.Appiah is expected to lead Sudan at the AFCON tournament to held in Morocco next yearSudan has a rich history in the AFCON, having won the tournament in 1970 when they hosted it.However, their recent record in the competition has been unimpressive. Appiah is looking to change that narrative and lead his team to success in Morocco.
