LEGISLATION PASSED TO INCREASE PRISON SENTENCES FOR ILLEGAL FIREARMS

Lawmakers in Parliament’s Lower House have passed the Firearms (Amendment) Bill 2024. It amends the Firearms Act, Cap 171, by imposing tougher sentences on those who possess and use illegal firearms. Some indictable offences will now carry prison sentences of up to 25 years. Shannakisha Francis reports.
