Kingston Police officer charged after external investigation

A member of the Kingston Police has been charged by the Durham Regional Police Service after they investigated the actions of the officer which occurred while they were off duty. On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Sgt. Jason Alblas was charged with one count of sexual assault in relation to an incident that occurred while off duty in August of 2024. The Kingston Police were first made aware of the incident in October 2024, and the Durham Regional Police Service were contacted and commenced an independent investigation into the incident.
