OPP investigating child’s drowning at Sandbanks Provincial Park

Prince Edward OPP are investigating a drowning incident involving a three-year-old child at Sandbanks Provincial Park. On Thursday at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the beach after a child went missing while playing with family members in a shallow area of water. The child was located and recovered by bystanders prior to the arrival of emergency services and subsequently transported to hospital by EMS. Despite resuscitation efforts, the child was pronounced deceased. The identity of the victim is not being released out of respect for the family's privacy.
