POLICE – Man charged in break-in at church, weapons threats

A Kamloops resident was taken into custody yesterday following a visible police presence on the North Shore throughout the morning. On Monday, March 17, 2025, multiple Kamloops RCMP officers were in the Brocklehurst area first at 3 a.m. for a report of a break and enter in progress at a property on Windbreak Street, then again around 7 a.m., for a call involving threats with a weapon on the 800-block of Evergreen Place. “Just before 9 a.m., the investigation resulted in police arresting a suspect related to both occurrences, at a commercial location on the 1800-block of Tranquille Road,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn. “He was held in custody for a bail hearing, during which he was remanded until his next court appearance scheduled for this afternoon, March 18.” Shane Lee McLeod, 25, of Kamloops is charged with break and enter, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of break-in instruments. Anyone who witnessed or has information, including video or dash camera footage that may be related to this investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-7465.
