Belleville declares significant weather event as ice storm looms

The City of Belleville has declared a significant weather event as the Quinte Region braces for a major spring ice storm. Environemnt Canada issued a freezing rain warning warning of commuter chaos and power outages througout a prolonged period of freezing rain this weekend.  They warn that ice accumulation could range from 5 to 20 mm starting Friday evening and continuing into Sunday afternoon. In light of the forecast, the City issued the declaration on Friday morning.
