HPEDSB trustees pass balanced 2024-25 budget with small surplus Monday

The 2024-25 budget for the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board was approved at Monday's board meeting. The Board of Trustees accepted a balanced budget of $246.5 million, with a very small surplus of $35,000. Both revenues and expenses increased tor the next school year, but specific factors affecting the budget included a $1.8 million deficit for transportation, $2.2 million less in Responsive Education Program (formerly Priorities and Partnership) Funding, a drop in overall enrolment of 62 students, high costs to replace absent teachers and inflation.
