Campbell River’s micro-market is taking shape, with construction starting today on the new storefronts. The self-contained units are being installed on the north side of the art gallery, near the intersection of Shoppers Row and 13th Avenue. Vendors will be announced soon, and there’s still time for anyone interested to apply to participate. The market is aimed at small and home-based businesses, providing them with short-term leases for an eight-by-10-foot space to set up shop. The city hopes setting it up near other downtown businesses will attract more people to shop downtown in general. City staff will also help vendors with mentorship and guidance to expand their businesses. The city says an opening date for the market will be announced soon, visit the city's website for more details.
