Huntsville Firefighters Association launches weekly lottery to support community needs

The Huntsville Firefighters Association (HFFA) is holding a weekly Chase the Ace lottery to raise funds for different local causes. According to Bradley Robshaw, the treasurer at HFFA, the progressive lottery will mostly focus on helping food and shelter insecurities. “The funds will go to the donation to breakfast clubs of local Huntsville schools,” says Robshaw. Robshaw says they start by shuffling the 52 cards of a card deck, placing them face down so they cannot see the cards. Then they slide each one into its own envelope seal and re-shuffle them. He says when tickets are purchased, the buyer chooses an envelope number from a list of available numbers and enters the number on their ticket. “That one weekly draw winner wins 20 per cent of the total sales for that week, or basically $2.00 for every ticket sold,” says Robshaw.  “30 per cent of the sales every week are put towards the progressive jackpot.” Robshaw says if the envelope selected is the Ace of Spades, then the lottery is finished, and the ticket holder wins the weekly prize plus the Ace of Spades pot. “It's a licensed raffle via the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO),” says Robshaw. “They are done at Station 1 Huntsville Fire Department every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.” To get more information on how to participate, click here.   The post Huntsville Firefighters Association launches weekly lottery to support community needs appeared first on My Muskoka Now.
