Northern Pass raises ‘record-breaking’ $1.5 Million for Cancer Research

A record-breaking $1.5 million was raised in the Northern Pass for The Princess Margaret cancer research. Denise Chow, manager and communications at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Canada, says over 450 cyclists, survivors, supporters and donors came together in scenic cottage country on Saturday for the event’s 8th year. “Cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada. With two in five Canadians expected to develop cancer in their lifetime and rates continuing to rise, the time to move cancer research forward is now,” says Chow. “The funds raised at Northern Pass drive breakthrough cancer research, lead to life-saving advancements in early detection and help develop cutting-edge treatment options.” Chow adds the riders found their way through 40 km – 160 km routes through the Muskoka Airport tarmac, enjoying live music at the Muskoka Brewery pitstop, and taking in the refreshing falls at Port Sydney Dam. “Thank you to the Muskoka community for their continued support, and we look forward to next year’s event,” says Chow.  The post Northern Pass raises ‘record-breaking’ $1.5 Million for Cancer Research appeared first on My Muskoka Now.
