Developers warn increased charges could be passed on to Quinte West homebuyers

A proposed spike in development charges in Quinte West isn't sitting well with local developers. Several members of the Bay of Quinte development industry spoke out at a public meeting at City Hall on Wednesday night calling for a 'sober, second thought' before a new development charges By-law is approved. If approved, developers would pay $22,000 more to build a single detached home in Quinte West - a cost to be passed on to homebuyers, they warned.  The current development charge in Quinte West is $15,000 and if approved would jump to $37,000 for a detached home.
