A suspicious death is prompting an investigation from Vancouver Island RCMP. The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has been asked to assist with a suspected homicide on Texada Island. Texada RCMP responded to a call early in the morning on September 2 in the 5100 block of Para Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an 81-year-old man deceased and believed to be a homicide victim. VIIMCU was then called in and asked to take lead on the investigation which they now have. The incident is in the early stages and further details cannot be released to not interfere with the RCMP, but it is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no risk to the community's safety. Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to contact the VIIMCU Information Line at (250) 380-6211.
