We need to refocus before the next election, Liberal MP  A full day of meetings between several liberal caucus members was held in Nanaimo, where some MPs showed their support for prime minister Justin Trudeau, despite protests asking for him to step down.  Support for the Trudeau government has been wavering since his approval ratings plummeted, but despite the low poll numbers, one MP says the liberal party is still unified.  “This caucus is unified and will refocus on how to win the next election for Canadian,” says Brenda Shanahan. “They’re counting on us to do so.”  However, in a media release, Nanaimo-Ladysmith MP Lisa Marie Barron says the government is not unified and having nine years to change is enough and people have had enough.  “Trudeau and his Liberals have made a big point about their visit to Nanaimo being a ‘fresh start’, but they’ve had nine years,” Barron says. “People in Nanaimo, and across the country aren’t buying it.”  Even protestors calling for Trudeau to step down all day outside the Courtyard Marriot were expressing the decision for the government to arrive in Nanaimo saying life is unaffordable for Canadians and who is going to pay the bill for this trip.  “People are stuck with high cost of living, but Trudeau can stay in the most expensive hotel in the city,” Justin Bruce says. “He has done nothing for First Nations, and for him to come here is a disgrace.”  Caucus meetings are scheduled to continue until Wednesday with Trudeau arriving later this evening [Monday].  The post We need to refocus before the next election, Liberal MP  appeared first on My Cowichan Valley Now.
