Holistic Urban Living: How Upper East Village Elevates The Leaside Standard

Upper East Village has given Leaside residents something to talk about since before its sleek and sophisticated buildings even began to take shape. The celebrated Camrost Felcorp interconnected urban community, located at Brentcliffe and Eglinton, brings fresh living options — and a new access point — to the coveted midtown Toronto neighbourhood. In fact, one may even say that the development’s holistic approach to urban living is elevating the Leaside standard — on a handful of fronts. Of course, the tree-lined neighbourhood has been a long-time hotspot to call home, especially for families. But for just as long a time, the most stylish and sophisticated Leaside living has traditionally been reserved for single-family homes with sprawling, manicured lawns. Now, that’s all changing.Located just steps from the shiny new Eglinton LRT station, Upper East Village fits right in with the Leaside neighbourhood, both aesthetically and from a lifestyle perspective. In short, the community captures the heart and soul of Leaside, from its brick and stone façade (which blends right in with the style of the surrounding homes), through to its well-curated retail offerings and new half-acre park.“We’re bringing an end-use focused building for downsizers, a luxury rental building, and a building that’s approachable for first-time homebuyers and younger individuals,” says Christopher Castellano, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Camrost Felcorp. In the process, Camrost is also bringing a whole new living standard to the Leaside community. Upper East Village Redefining Rentals Perhaps most notably, Upper East Village offers more options for rentals in Leaside – and ones with all the appreciated bells and whistles of upscale condo living, at that. In the not-too-distant-past, options for Leaside’s renters were slim, aside from a handful of aging apartments. But that’s all set to change, thanks to an influx of new condo developments like Upper East Village – something that largely coincides with the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.But Upper East Village takes the notion of renting a step further, redefining the process with their purpose-built rental building at 36 Brentcliffe. Here, the one and two-bedroom luxury rental units offer hotel-inspired services and amenities. The sleek and stylish building truly establishes a new example for Leaside’s rental buildings. “To bring high-end rental to [the area] is something that we’re really proud to do,” says Castellano. “When you look at the rental options in Leaside, there’s currently aging low-rise brick rentals and older rental buildings. But we’re one of the first purpose-built modern rentals that are trying to bring a new generation into Leaside.”READ: Loving On Leaside: Why The Park-Filled Neighbourhood Is A Toronto Mainstay 36 Brentcliffe Better Builds Meanwhile, there’s also the option to purchase now and move right in, with select suites currently available at 33 Frederick Todd Way. Those with slightly longer-term visions can purchase pre-construction at The Frederick. The sleek and spacious Upper East Village residences range from one bedrooms through to townhomes. This wide range of home types opens the neighbourhood up to a larger demographic of varying life stages. It also brings elevated quality to the neighbourhood's condo stock.“Some of the developments that have been in the neighbourhood for a while aren't to the same quality and calibre that Camrost Felcorp is bringing,” says Castellano. “On top of that, Camrost is bringing a thought-out master-planned community with retail, a park, a pedestrian realm, and incredible amenities. And we’re bringing a product of brick and limestone, that we’re spending money on, that further pushes the desirability of Leaside. Because it’s a good product." 33 Frederick Todd Way, Suite 1801 (Upper East Village)Refreshed Retail Leaside has been long associated with the charming, small business-filled Bayview Avenue strip. Brimming with an assortment of local restaurants and shops, this strip has always featured a varied-yet-complementary range of offerings that cater to Leaside residents of all ages. This means everything from the family-filled Hollywood Gelato, to the longtime local watering hole McSorley's Saloon, or the charming stationary and greeting card spot, Write Impressions. Fittingly, the retail offerings currently in the works for Upper East Village can be seen as a holistic extension of these offerings. For example, the development has potential plans for a grocery store to join its retail mix, as the community’s construction moves forward. “When it comes to retail, it’s very important for us to curate it,” says Castellano. “We want to make sure that the retail component that’s going in adds to the development and the services that the residents will use.”In addition to this retail, Upper East Village also brings a new park to Leaside’s mix. The abundant outdoor space has always been a major draw for Leaside. For example, both Sunnybrook Park and the whole Don Valley ravine system are just minutes away. This new park breathes fresh life into the neighbourhood's breezy green acreage. As Upper East Village continues to take shape, it will only contribute to the future of Leaside -- one that's a little more attainable, a little more sophisticated, and completely on-brand with a neighbourhood that makes everyone feel at home.
