CVRD opens public engagement on Island Rail Corridor

Starting September first you can let the CVRD know what you think about the Island Rail Corridor and what it should be used for in the future.  The island rail corridor in the CVRD is just over 71 kilometers long and passes though Cowichan Tribes, Halalt First Nation and Stz’uminus First Nation land.  The process began earlier this year with a series of planning and background studies on the corridor's history, says the CVRD.  “We welcome this process of collaboration and consultation to help shape the future of the Island Rail Corridor, as it is a complex issue that affects everyone in our region,” said Aaron Stone, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Cowichan Valley Regional District.  The survey goes live September 1st and there will be an open house hosted in Charles Hoey Park on September 14th.  After this initial planning process, a final report will be presented to the CVRD board in early 2025 with recommendations.  The post CVRD opens public engagement on Island Rail Corridor appeared first on My Cowichan Valley Now.
