National Truth and Reconciliation Survivor flag raising to highlight community’s commitment to the truth

Hope Arises (Hope Arises) Project Inc. is holding a ceremony at Huntsville Town Hall to raise the National Truth and Reconciliation Survivor flag on Sept. 23. Joyce Crone, president and founder of Hope Arises says the raising of the flag demonstrates the community believes and supports the truth behind what happened at residential schools. The ceremony kicks off at 9:00 a.m. Crone says she is proud of the initiatives Hope Arises has been doing in collaboration with the town. Crone adds new this year is a “small ceremony which will include the mayors and hopefully some other community members.” “This is just a demonstration of their support for what we're doing in our community and how we're doing it together,” says Crone. She says the community is invited to observe and understand what that flag means and the significance of it flying in the community. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is Sept. 30.
