Bresee announces bigger investment for Deseronto, other FN libraries

Some public libraries in Quinte are getting a financial shot in the arm. Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee announced an additional annual investment on Monday of $1.25 million for Ontario's 37 First Nation public libraries. This year, the Kanhiote Library in Deseronto is receiving $54,708. The money is intended to allow First Nation libraries to continue to offer high-quality programs and services. Some of the benefits include an increase in First Nation Salary Supplement allocations to $35,000 to retain and hire librarians and support staff -- current Public Library Operating Grant allocations will also double, with a minimum grant of...
