Belleville baseball giant heading to provincial hall of fame

A long-time late local baseball player, umpire and administrator will be recognized posthumously for his time and effort to shape baseball in Ontario. Jack Carson was announced as a posthumous induction for the Ontario Baseball Association Hall of Fame. Carson played junior, intermediate, and senior baseball in Belleville and the surrounding area first playing and then umpiring in the South Hastings Baseball League. After Carson hung up his cleats, he turned to the administrative side of the sport, helping to establish the Eastern Ontario Baseball Association and become its first president.
