The Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA) collected Nu 780,146 in fines for expired products and other regulatory violations between July 2023 and January 2025. The fines were imposed following regular and unannounced inspections across the country. Food retailers and wholesalers are encouraged to check product expiration dates and report expired items to BFDA for detention and destruction.
