In response to President Tinubu’s recent address acknowledging the nationwide protests, High Comrade Joseph Lamienghan, Secretary of Delta State HOSTCOM, has called for constructive dialogue between the federal government and the protesters.High Comrade Lamienghan emphasized the importance of open communication and mutual understanding in resolving the current unrest. He stated that regardless of the severity of any issue leading to conflict, the concerned parties must ultimately engage in constructive dialogue. He urged all sides to take advantage of the opportunity for robust conversation offered by President Tinubu.Lamienghan remarked, "Now that the President has appealed to the protesters, it is crucial for the organizers to open the door for dialogue. This is a pivotal moment where both parties can come together to address concerns and find a way forward."He highlighted the need for unity and collaborative efforts among stakeholders, especially in dealing with sensitive national issues that can determine the nation's destiny. Lamienghan also pointed out the importance of addressing grievances in the oil and gas sector, noting, "Oil is the mainstay of our economy, yet there is little to show for it in terms of development and benefits to the people."The protests underscore the frustrations of many Nigerians who feel that the wealth generated from the oil and gas sector has not translated into tangible improvements in their lives. Lamienghan's call for dialogue aims to bridge the gap between the government and the citizens, fostering an environment where grievances can be aired, and solutions can be crafted collaboratively. As the nation awaits further developments, the hope is that this call for dialogue will lead to meaningful conversations and actions that will address the root causes of the protests and pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future.
