Comrade Mike J.K. Tiemo, President of the Peace, Development, Security and Humanitarian Rights Association of Niger Deltans, has labeled the declaration of the nationwide protest as irrelevant, criticizing it for failing to recommend creative and productive ideas to the federal government prior to the proposed action.Speaking in Warri, Delta State, Comrade Tiemo emphasized that it is the responsibility of all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to work together through broad consultation for the progress and development of the country by recommending innovative ideas that can enhance government operations. The Niger Delta humanitarian activist remarked that Nigeria needs technology to explore and refine crude oil into various petroleum products for both local and international consumption. He noted that the removal or imposition of fuel subsidies is not the solution to fuel scarcity or high inflation.According to Comrade Tiemo, Nigeria's lack of technology for productivity and refining limits the country's ability to control or regulate the prices of petroleum products, the mainstay of the economy. This, he said, has created unnecessary tension and economic woes. He warned that if the current situation is not well-handled, it could result in significant loss of lives and property. Therefore, he advised protesters to suspend the ongoing demonstrations and use diplomacy to recommend creative ideas to the federal government for effective implementation. He suggested that the federal government create an office under the Ministry of Information to interface with individuals or organizations presenting valuable ideas. These ideas could then be utilized and implemented for the benefit of Nigeria. As a matter of urgency, Comrade Tiemo recommended that the federal government take bold steps to bring in modular refinery manufacturers or dealers to significantly increase national refining capacity, which would also create jobs and wealth. He also called on the federal government to open more oil blocks for prospecting and exploration to attract foreign investors and ensure sufficient crude oil supply. In conclusion, Tiemo stressed the need for constant consultation for positive recommendations and ideas that would move the nation forward, rather than protests that create tension without yielding productive results. He advised protesters to reconsider and abandon the ongoing protest in the interest of national peace and tranquility.
