In a significant breakthrough, federal intelligence police officers have apprehended Francis Odiakose, also known as Francis Oduwanor, a notorious figure linked to escalating violence in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku. Alongside him, his close associate, Mr. Chiedu Agwada, alias "Dagger," was also taken into custody.Oduwanor had been on the run for two years, allegedly shielded by influential government allies, despite being declared wanted by the Delta State Government’s Security Council in 2022. He was accused of inciting unrest and committing various atrocities in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku.Oduwanor's arrest follows an attack on H.R.M Obi (Dr) Ifechukwude Aninshi Okonjo II, the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom. He had unlawfully declared himself the traditional ruler of Otulu Ogwashi-Uku, directly violating Delta State chieftaincy laws. Since then, he allegedly spearheaded a campaign of intimidation and violence against both the community and the recognized traditional authority.Community leaders detailed to our correspondent how Oduwanor’s associates, who were recently released from custody, reignited a wave of terror upon their return, leading to the deaths of two residents. The group, allegedly emboldened by high-level connections, resumed violent activities, forcing respected traditional leader Chief Anthony Enurah into hiding for his safety.Oduwanor’s capture, alongside other suspects found in possession of sophisticated firearms and dangerous weapons, marks a major victory for the Otulu Ogwashi-Uku community. However, residents are urging the federal government to maintain pressure to apprehend all remaining culprits and restore lasting peace.Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, the Palace Secretary for the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, confirmed awareness of the arrests and praised the police for their diligence. He reaffirmed the palace's commitment to justice, despite the suspects' perceived influence and connections.Emordi called on the Inspector General of Police to intensify efforts to bring to justice those responsible for the violence in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku. He emphasized that no amount of defamation or falsehoods against the Obi (Dr) Ifechukwude Aninshi Okonjo II would deter the monarch's commitment to securing peace and safety in his kingdom. The community now hopes these arrests will mark the beginning of a new chapter of stability, putting an end to the fear and chaos that has plagued Otulu Ogwashi-Uku. Local leaders continue to appeal for consistent government support to prevent any resurgence of violence and maintain law and order.
