By Our Reporter The National Executive Council of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Alumni Association has commended the Ondo State Government for approving the institution’s long-awaited 12th–23rd combined convocation ceremonies.In a statement issued in Akure and signed by the National President, Engr. Chief Adesina Adeola, the Alumni body described the approval granted by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as a “landmark decision” that has rekindled pride and hope among thousands of graduates and current students.The association said the move reflects the administration’s deep commitment to education, institutional legacy, and youth empowerment in Ondo State. “This singular act is a testament to the government’s dedication to advancing the cause of education and preparing young people for future leadership,” the statement read.As part of the convocation activities, the Alumni Association announced plans to commission its National Secretariat described as a Legacy Project, perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Alumni Lock-Up Shops, and ratify its constitution. The initiatives, the association said, are designed to strengthen the foundation of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic and foster greater unity and service among graduates.The statement also expressed gratitude to the institution’s Governing Council for its steadfast commitment to development and for upholding the ideals of the polytechnic. “Together, we move from ceremony to legacy; from history to action,” it added.Speaking further, the National Public Relations Officer of the association, Engr. Asulewon Samuel (Banty), urged all alumni of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic to take active part in the forthcoming convocation events, describing them as a defining moment in the school’s history.“This is not just a convocation; it is a reunion of legacy bearers,” he said.The event, according to the association, will take place in Owo, Ondo State, as part of activities marking the institution’s renewed commitment to academic excellence and alumni engagement.
