How Police arrested two for attempted murder in Akure

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspects over an alleged attempted murder in Akure, the state capital.In a statement issued on Tuesday and made available to journalists, the Police said the arrest followed a distress call from a woman identified as Fasuru, a resident of the Oke-Ijebu area of Akure.According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, operatives of the Ijapo Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly responded to the report and met the victim being violently assaulted by two men.Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, identified as Sodiq and Emmanuel, allegedly beat the woman until she lost consciousness. The police operatives reportedly rescued the victim and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she is currently receiving medical attention.The suspects were immediately arrested and taken into custody, while the case has been transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit for further investigation and prosecution.Commending the prompt response of the officers, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, warned residents against engaging in violent acts, noting that such crimes often attract severe legal consequences.The police boss assured the public of the Command’s readiness to respond to distress calls and its commitment to ensuring justice for victims of crime across the state.The Command also acknowledged the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, stating that his reforms and technological initiatives have continued to enhance policing efficiency in Ondo State.Lawal urged residents to remain law-abiding and to cooperate with the Police by providing timely and credible information that would aid crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.The Police further encouraged members of the public to reach the Command through its official channels for complaints and inquiries.
