How Ondo Police arrested 25 suspects during cult initiation

The Ondo State Police Command has foiled a planned cult initiation ceremony in Uso community, arresting 25 suspected members of the Neo Black Movement (NBM).The arrests followed credible intelligence received by the police on Thursday, January 8, 2026, indicating that the group was preparing to induct new members into the cult.Acting swiftly, operatives of the command were deployed to the area, where they disrupted the initiation exercise and rounded up the suspects at the scene.Police sources said those arrested were drawn from Ondo, Osun, Lagos and Edo states, underscoring the inter-state spread of cult-related activities.Items recovered from the suspects include a Toyota Highlander SUV and an unregistered Daylong motorcycle, both believed to have been used for the operation.The Police Commissioner in the state, Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their professionalism, assuring that the command would intensify efforts to stamp out cultism across Ondo State.Lawal warned youths to shun cult-related activities, stressing that the suspects would be charged to court after investigations, while urging residents to continue providing timely information to aid crime prevention.
