Huawei Mate XT is coming to the Malaysian market but before that, why not share a short experience to see what this new device has to offer. If two folds are not enough, then the three folds of the Mate XT could be the answer. It is the world's first commercial tri-fold screen device for the public to buy.We can't reveal the internal specifications until its official launch in Malaysia. However, what is certain is that you are not reading it wrong because the device can not only be folded in half. In fact, it has three parts of the screen when unfolded. With three folds, of course, the device can be transformed from the size of a regular smart device into a larger tablet. When fully opened, this larger screen is able to provide a better video viewing, playing games and multi-tasking experience.Another thing that attracts attention about the Mate XT is its thin and light build. When fully opened, the Mate XT does indeed look thin with a thickness of only 3.6mm. Even thinner than the Honor Magic V3 which was 4.4mm thick that was previously reviewed. Once folded, it looks like a regular smart device. When folded in half, it can function as a mini tablet and when fully opened, it provides a wide display like a large tablet. The Mate XT's body is made of three different parts with two hinge mechanisms that can be folded outward and inward at the same time. The hinge feels sturdy with even tension and can be placed at any angle including in a zigzag position on a flat surface. The entire device looks premium with a gold-colored metal frame and a textured faux leather back. At first glance, the finish here seems to take inspiration from the Huawei Mate X6 that was previously tested. In terms of comfort, the back with the camera bump feels heavier than the other two screen parts. The weight is also unbalanced due to the large and protruding camera bump. Questions began to arise regarding the durability of the device since the front screen was always exposed even when folded. Part of the frame was also exposed even when used with a protective case.A device with a tri-fold screen is not a new option, in fact many other prototype models have been produced. Since the Mate XT has already been sold commercially and is even going to Malaysia, it shows that Huawei can be considered to have successfully entered a new trend early. It could also be something that can attract the attention and interest of many to better understand the concept. It is still unclear about the selling price of the device which can only be answered after it is launched.
