SteamOS Will Officially Be Supported on Third-Party Mobile Consoles

With the launch of the Lenovo Legion Go S this morning, Valve confirmed that they will begin supporting the SteamOS operating system on third-party mobile consoles. This is not a surprising announcement as rumors of SteamOS support on more consoles have been heard for the past few months. With SteamOS, various video games in the Steam collection will be better supported. More interestingly, Valve says that owners can also install other third-party launchers on this Linux-based operating system. The advantage of SteamOS over Windows is better controller support because it was developed for mobile consoles. In addition, based on the battery usage experience, it is also better when compared to consoles using Windows 11.Valve says that Beta testing will open as early as next March before the Lenovo Legion Go S is launched in May. The list of third-party consoles that can download SteamOS has not yet been announced but Valve says that the experience provided is comparable to a Steam Deck.Valve's announcement comes at a good time as Microsoft also announced that it will bring the Xbox experience to Windows 11 mobile consoles at CES this morning.
