TikTok Back in Business in the United States

Less than 24 hours after announcing that they were halting operations in the United States, TikTok is now back in business early this morning. In an official announcement released by TikTok, they thanked President Donald Trump who will be sworn in today for allowing the company to continue operating.TikTok's reactivation of operations in the United States is being done in stages. Although services have been restored, the application is still not available for download through the Play Store and App Store in the country. Trump is believed to be issuing an order to extend TikTok's sales period for another 90 days immediately after officially assuming office.However, in a post to Truth Social yesterday, Trump said he still wants 50% ownership by a US entity for TikTok to continue operating. This is in line with his request six years ago when he ordered TikTok to be sold if it wanted to operate in the country. After losing to President Biden in the 2019 election, this order was revoked and only a special browser operated by Oracle was required to be used to store American user data.At the time of writing, only TikTok was back in business while Lemon8, CapCut and Marvel Snap, all of which have Bytedance involvement, were still blocked.
