Fahmi Fadzil : Developing Social Media Platforms Is Not The Government's Priority At The moment

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil yesterday insisted that developing a social media platform would cost a lot. Therefore it is not the government's priority for now. The statement was issued after he said the government was considering building its own social media platform that would make it easier to control compared to external social media platforms that are currently operating. He added that even so, if there is a private party that wants to develop a local social media platform it is welcome. They can contact MOSTI and MDEC for help. This statement was released after receiving negative reactions from netizens who said it was not a good idea.Previously there were several local social media platforms such as Mface which only operated for a few years before being closed due to lack of response.
