The United Nations approved its first cyber crime agreement over the weekend in a unanimous vote of nearly 200 countries. It was only approved three years after it was submitted by Russia.Graduates of the agreement are important and establish cooperation between member countries to oppose cyber crime globally. The UN will ask the member countries to ban abuse of computing devices and equipment to commit crimes.Among the things that want to emphasize to ensure that all countries are exposed to the production of sexual content sales involving children online, protecting them from sexual abuse and planning to abuse children.Authorities in each country are also empowered to collect and record data for prosecution and forced telecommunications companies to submit information and documents on the crime committed by the customer. The agreement will then go to the General Assembly for voting in September. It is expected to be approved without any issues as all UN members have already agreed. However, it receives opposition from the human rights movement and technology companies who are worried that they will be used by certain countries to violate human rights and to mute any form of opposition online.
