Recently there have been rumors that a large amount of personal details of the citizens of the United States have been leaked to the web arena. This was finally confirmed by National Public Data, a private company that seeks information from non-public sources and sells it to other companies for background checks.This data consists of full names, home addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, SOCSO numbers and others that a hacker group called the USDoD has tried to sell recently.According to a statement released by National Public Data recently, they confirmed that their database was hacked, and it happened through a third-party vulnerability, to which access has been gained since last year. They say there is a possibility of the hack happening in April 2024 and one to two months after that looking at the data contained in the files shown by the hacking group.Complicating matters is that this hacked data is not encrypted, and these hacker groups have access to this data and can exploit it for various nefarious purposes, even if they don't sell it.Recently, this group has started selling the data of 2.9 billion US citizens, along with the data of UK and Canadian citizens for $3.5 million in the dark web arena.
