ASUS Showcases Computer Power Supplies Using GaN Technology

The power supply component is one of the most important components for a computer, but may not be talked about as much because its job is only to supply clean power to other computer components.Recently, ASUS has introduced some of their latest computer power supply components, and has integrated Galium Nitride technology or better known as GaN into it. The use of GaN technology is commonly seen in device charger accessories and also power supplies for smart devices. These two power supplies include ASUS ROG THOR 1600W Titanium III, ASUS ROG STRIX 1000W Platinum and ASUS ROG STRIX 850W Platinum. All of these power supplies use MOSFET components made of Gallium Nitride material.ASUS uses these GaN MOSFETs for several reasons. First is that the MOSFET does not take up so much space, and is not tall. This helps in ventilation in this power supply. Components that operate at lower temperatures are more efficient.Speaking of efficiency, ASUS says that the use of GaN technology in their power supply makes it 30 percent more efficient than its previous offering, and that's why it comes with Platinum and even Titanium ratings on the model name.In the meantime, these power supplies also support ATX 3.0 power supply technology that allows a PCIe power plug to channel as much as 600W of power using a new 16-pin PCIe cable to powerful new graphics cards such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090.So far, it is not known when ASUS will start selling this series of power supplies, but we expect it to coincide with the launch of AMD, Intel CPU series and even the latest graphics cards from NVIDIA soon.
