Samsung Collaborates With Qualcomm To Support Vehicle ADAS and Inforia Systems
Samsung announced a collaboration with Qualcomm to support premium vehicle ADAS and entertainment systems under the Snapdragon Digital Chassis umbrella. At this point Samsung's automotive-specific LPDDR4X memory passes the standards set by Qualcomm.Through this collaboration, Samsung wants to increase its memory holdings for the automotive sector which is currently dominated by Micron. At the same time Samsung is currently in the process of developing LPDDR5 memory specifically for automotive with a speed of 9.6 Gbps. The first samples will be offered to interested customers in the fourth quarter of 2024.Fast memory is needed because of the increasingly complex needs of vehicle systems. According to data from Micron, current modern cars are equipped with 90GB of RAM and storage. It is expected to increase to 278GB by 2026 and reach 4TB by 2030.
