Valve Is Testing ARM64 Support On Some Video Games
Windows computers with ARM chips such as the Snapdragon X Elite became widely available this year. The downside at the moment is video game support which is still quite limited as it does not support ARM-based chips. This week data from SteamDB shows that Valve is testing some video games to support ARM through Proton.This led to speculation that Valve will offer Steam Deck equipped with ARM chips in the future as well as run the same video games on Android devices. At the same time it gives hope that SteamOS can be run through Proton on computers equipped with ARM chips.Among the games that have been tested are Left 4 Dead 2, Shadows of Mordor, Kerbal Space Program and The Forest. It is too early to predict when ARM chip support will be provided. But if anyone considers themselves a "gamer", access to the Steam library on various ARM devices is certainly exciting.
