Huawei Mate XT Tri-Fold Screen Replacement Price Is More Expensive Than iPhone 16

A few days ago, Huawei launched the first smartphone with a tri-fold screen, the Huawei Mate XT. They are the first in the world to introduce a device with a design like this commercially for the public to buy at a price of up to RM12,000. Huawei has recently revealed the price of spare parts for this device and it is very expensive. If the inner tri-fold screen breaks, the price of spare parts starts at ¥6999 (refurbished) which is around RM4,248. While the new screen is ¥7999 which is around RM4,855 and if the old screen does not want to be recycled, Huawei will charge a fee of RM5,947. This is a very expensive price, because the cheapest price can already buy an iPhone 16 with the balance to buy a Beats frame. As another comparison, the price of replacing the screen in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 in Malaysia is RM2,329 and can be cheaper with a Samsung Care+ subscription. In China, Huawei also offers an insurance plan to replace the screen at a price of ¥3,499 which is around RM2,124 that can be claimed within one year. With the price of the device reaching RM12,000, the price of repairing the Mate XT screen is quite expensive. If the world's first tri-fold screen phone was offered in Malaysia, would you buy it and if damaged would you be willing to pay for the damages?
