Xiaomi Opens Factory Building Smartphones Without Human Workers

Xioami now has a factory that can produce 10 million human smartphones without human workers. The Xiaomi Smart Factory is located in Changping, Beijing and it cost RMB 2.4 billion with a floor area of 81,000 square meters. According to Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, the device phone installation equipment in this factory was developed by them. This factory will be used to produce Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 and MIX Flip.Usually the assembly process of the main components and the inspection at the final stage is done by human workers on the factory floor. This is the main reason why the production of smartphones and electronic equipment was severely affected during the Covid-19 pandemic four years ago. Apple also experienced production problems when Foxconn factory workers rioted a few years ago.In the video shared by Lei Jun, the operation of the factory is controlled by only a few staff. The effort to develop a factory that operates using fully automated technology has been started since 2017. Previously, the experimental factory had started operations and produced 1 million devices a year.
