Nintendo Switch 2 Receives Handheld Mode Boost Update

The Nintendo Switch portable video game console has recently received a number of new updates that introduce several new features, but one update is seen as more important than the others, namely a new feature called Handheld Mode Boost.With this feature, Nintendo Switch 2 console owners can play original Nintendo Switch games at a higher resolution and refresh rate (Full HD, 60FPS), as if the original console was used in TV Mode.This feature allows original Nintendo Switch games to show an increase in graphical performance and smooth gameplay, but without the issue of having to be tethered to a television in the user's living room.However, the Handheld Mode Boost feature comes with a rather significant drawback, namely the console's touchscreen display feature will be disabled in this mode, turning the Switch 2 controller into a Pro Controller.This will cause some Nintendo Switch games to not be used properly in this mode because some of the inputs of these video games require a touchscreen display. Nintendo has not confirmed which games will be affected by this mode, but a number of games such as Super Mario Maker 2, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Eevee!, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, Clubhouse Games, Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ’n’ Fun!, and Pikmin 1+2 are not currently supported in Handheld Boost mode.In the meantime, this update (ver 22.0.0) also updates the flight mode on this console, allowing users to customize the settings more, with the option to activate only WiFi or Bluetooth mode more quickly via the Quick Settings menu.
