OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington Supreme Court reinstated the trial court’s determination that six police officers’ motion for an injunction, which would have prevented the police department from releasing their identities to a public records request related to their attendance at the Jan. 6 insurrection, should be denied. Because the state constitution requires that “justice in all cases shall be administered openly,” the police officers do not have a claim to an exemption due to privacy, as the incident was a public event.
