A former federal prosecutor Saturday highlighted the purported hypocrisies associated with the actions of Judge Aileen Cannon, who is overseeing Donald Trump's criminal Espionage Act case in Florida. Glenn Kirschner, who frequently appears on MSNBC as a legal analyst, explained that Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a gag order request back in May, but that it still hasn't been answered by Cannon. "Judge Cannon has yet to rule on that motion back in May, a narrow restriction... designed to protect law enforcement," he said in a video for "Justice Matters." He then notes that the brief calls President Joe Biden's debate performance "exceedingly weak.""That kind of crap has no place in a court filing - it has no relevance to any legal issue in the motion," he said, adding that a "self-respecting judge" would strike the language from the record and potentially hit Trump's attorneys with a show cause hearing to convince the court that they shouldn't be sanctioned for that "unprofessional and potentially unethical conduct.""You think we'll hear a peep out of Judge Cannon about the garbage that Donald Trump's attorneys put in this court filing?" he asked, saying it was an attempt to "convert a court filing into a campaign ad."
