Donald Trump is reminding voters why they kicked him out of office in 2020 as he tries to regain the momentum he lost when Kamala Harris entered the race, according to a Democratic strategist.Republicans have been publicly pleading with Trump to stick to policy as he campaigns against the vice president instead of making personal attacks about her intelligence that many voters find offensive, but longtime Democratic activist Brad Woodhouse told CNN the former president doesn't operate like that."When Trump lost in 2020, one of the reasons [was] people were tired of this shtick," said Woodhouse, a senior adviser to the Democratic National Committee. "They were tired of the chaos, yes, they were tired of the tweets."ALSO READ: Harris has figured out Trump’s greatest liability"One thing about Trump is, he's instant gratification, like he can't give an economic speech because people aren't going to go wild," Woodhouse added. "You know, he couldn't stay on script at the Republican National Convention, when he gave that speech where 30 minutes were very heartfelt, very emotional, but the crowd wasn't reacting to it the way that they react to the red meat. So he went on 60 minutes of a complete diatribe."Trump's campaign managed to keep his worst impulses under wraps by keeping the focus earlier in the race on president Joe Biden's mental fitness, but after those same concerns from Democrats forced him out of the race and elevated Harris as the likely nominee, Woodhouse said the GOP nominee can't get out of his own way. "This is a professional campaign and, I mean, Chris [LaCivita], in particular, been around for a long time," Woodhouse said. "The problem they have is at the top of the ticket and the lack of discipline."CNN's Kasie Hunt agreed, saying that Trump didn't know how to wrest back the momentum he had before Biden exited the race."In a world where they were running against Joe Biden," she said, "the campaign was a little bit free to just do its thing, run its race, stay ahead, didn't have to worry about it as much. Well, I think the emergence of this new ticket has just freaked Donald Trump out."Watch below or click the link. - YouTube youtu.be
