Iran responsible for cyber attack on former President Trump's team

WASHINGTON – US intelligence officials said Monday that Iran is responsible for the cyber attack on former President Donald Trump's campaign team. This is the first time the US government has said who is responsible for the cyber attack, which the Republican candidate previously blamed on Tehran. The FBI and other federal agencies said Iran considers this year's U.S. presidential election particularly important and that it is determined through this cyber operation and other activities to interfere in U.S. politics, “sow division and undermine trust.” to our democratic institutions”. “We have observed increased aggressive activity from Iran during this election cycle, particularly with regard to influence operations against the American public and cyber operations against electoral teams for the presidential election,” said a joint statement by the FBI, the Office of Director of National Intelligence, as well as the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Agency. The statement says that Iranian hackers have “attempted to gain access to individuals who have access to election teams of both political parties.” The FBI is also investigating efforts to gain access to Democrat Kamala Harris' campaign team.
