There is one last "hurdle" between prosecutors of Donald Trump and his upcoming sentencing next month, and the judge may have given us a clue about how that roadblock will be resolved, a former prosecutor said Sunday. Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner said the only thing potentially blocking the sentencing of Trump, who was convicted on 34 felony counts in connection with a scheme to influence the 2016 election by disguising "hush money" payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels, is a motion to dismiss Trump filed based on the Supreme Court's recent presidential immunity decision. We don't know how that motion will be concluded, but Judge Juan Merchan left us an "Easter egg," according to Kirschner's weekend analysis. He added, "There is one last hurdle that Lady Justice has to jump in order for Donald Trump to be sentenced." That hurdle coming up before the September 18 sentencing, according to Kirschner, takes place just two days earlier. He described it as a "potential impediment" to Trump's sentencing."Donald Trump has been desperately trying to get his conviction thrown out," Kirschner said, pointing to a motion to "set aside" the conviction entirely due to the high court's presidential immunity ruling. That decision will be made on September 16, according to Kirschner.According to the ex-prosecutor, there is a hint about the potential outcome of that motion."Judge Merchan goes on to say something that's more than just interesting. I would go so far as to say it feels like a little bit of an Easter egg Judge Merchan dropped in this letter," Kirschner said, noting that Merchan said the sentencing date "remains unchanged.""We will proceed on that date and time to the imposition of sentence or other proceedings as appropriate," Merchan wrote. "Please keep these dates in mind if you still wish to file a pre-sentence recommendation." Watch below or click here.
