Palestinians Call Settler Attacks in West Bank 'Brutal'

Muawiya Sedeh, a 38-year-old father of five, was at his home in the West Bank village of Jit when a group of Jewish settlers, some wearing masks and carrying Molotov cocktails, set his house on fire on Thursday night. He managed to escape with his family in a matter of minutes. When he returned, the settlers jeered and threatened him, “We will come back and kill you!” and told him to go to Jordan or Syria. Locals said more than 100 people took part in the attack, many wearing masks and dressed in black, and it appeared well-coordinated. They were divided into groups carrying firearms and others throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails. “I was lucky, life and death were a matter of minutes,” Sedeh said. Videos shared on social media showed cars and houses burning. Palestinian emergency services reported that a 22-year-old man was killed by settler-carried weapons.
