House Republicans' Friday announcement of an investigation into Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate spurred social media yawns from Democrats who said they have seen that show before. The House Oversight committee took to X to share news that Rep. James Comer (R-KY) — who led the investigation into President Joe Biden's alleged foreign ties — would investigate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) and his alleged foreign ties."Seems like we’ve been renewed for a second season," replied committee member Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), "which is surprising given the @RottenTomatoes score."Comer accused Walz of having connections to Chinese Communist Party officials and maintaining a "devotion" to the party, the announcement states.ALSO READ: Donald Trump deep in debt while foreign money keeps coming: disclosure"The CCP has sought to destroy the United States through coordinated influence and infiltration campaigns that target every aspect of American life, including our own elected officials," Comer said in a statement. "Americans should be deeply concerned that Governor Walz, Kamala Harris’s vice-presidential running mate, has a longstanding and cozy relationship with China."Walz, a former teacher, taught in China after college and has since returned about 30 times, raising concerns among conservatives, according to a recent Reuters report.Singer told Reuters earlier this month that "Republicans are twisting basic facts," said Walz stood up to the Chinese Communist Party and "always put American jobs and manufacturing first."Harris-Walz spokesperson James Singer told Raw Story that his response to the allegations remains the same. Comer's threat of a pending investigation failed to evoke concern from national security attorney Bradley Moss, who replied to Moskowitz' quip with a retort of his own. "You know Netflix," Moss wrote. "They’ll renew anything."Comer's impeachment inquiry in Biden — whom he accused of accepting bribes from foreign entities to protect his son Hunter Biden — was widely considered a dud. This story was updated at 12:35 p.m. to include a response from Harris-Walz campaign spokesperson James Singer.
