Dow Posts Record High at Monday's Stock Market Close

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose to a record high, despite a number of tech giants' declines, leaving U.S. stock indexes mixed on Wall Street at the close on Monday (8/26). The S&P 500 index fell 0.3% on Monday, while the Nasdaq index fell 0.9%. Stocks in both indexes fell as shares of several technology companies plunged. Their shares have a significant impact on the overall market because of their large value. Nvidia's stock price fell by 2.2%, followed by Microsoft which fell by 0.8%, followed by Amazon which fell by 0.9%, and Meta and Tesla which fell by 1.3% and 3.2% respectively. The stock market has been on a two-week winning streak, with the Dow and S&P500 within striking distance of new record highs. (jm/lt)
