Tirana, the government reacts on the suspected transport of “hazardous waste” to China and Thailand

The Albanian government rejected comments that it has not acted in relation to suspected cases of irregular transport to Thailand and China of a quantity of goods containing waste from technological processes in Albania and Kosovo. In the joint statement from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the Ministry of Tourism and Environment on Saturday, it is emphasized that the two economic operators, one in Albania and the other in Kosovo, are making obvious efforts to evade their responsibilities, so “waiting for the outcome of the relevant investigations and analyzes would be better than charging law enforcement agencies with responsibility.” The government announced on Saturday that the state structures immediately launched an intensive exchange of information as well as a joint investigation with OLAF (European Union Anti-Fraud Office). “from the first moment these suspicions were raised” last month.
