Iran Expects Hezbollah to Strike Deeper into Israeli Territory

Iran said on Saturday (3/8) that it expects the Tehran-backed Hezbollah group in Lebanon to attack Israeli territory further, no longer limited to military targets, after Israel killed a Hezbollah military commander. Hezbollah has been engaged in near-daily exchanges of fire with Israeli forces, claiming they are targeting military positions across the border, since an attack by its Palestinian allies, Hamas, on Israel on October 7, sparking the war in Gaza. However, an Israeli-claimed attack on a densely populated residential area in southern Beirut changed the equation, according to a statement by Iran's mission to the United Nations (UN). “We expect… Hezbollah to select more targets and (strike) deeper in response,” the mission was quoted as saying by the official news agency.
